THE BEATLES LOVE LAS VEGAS
The Beatles LOVE is a central part of Cirque du Soleil in Mirage Las Vegas. If you like The Beatles or Cirque du Soleil on their own, you must see this upbeat production.
Cirque du Soleil is one of the most popular theatrical companies in the world, with shows that will make you hold your breath with wonder and amazement.
The Beatles LOVE is no different as it takes spectators on a groovy psychedelic journey through the 1960s, inspired by the greatest pop group that the world has ever seen: The Beatles.
With brand new acts, costumes, technology and choreography, this revitalised show full of acrobatics and flair has won three Grammy awards and pays tribute to both rock and roll music and the vibrant colours and trends of a decade that changed the world.
Although LOVE features some well-known Beatles songs, it is not meant to be a greatest hits show. The rollicking music is combined with aerial yoga, aquatic ballet, and visual projections. Fittingly, the show has won multiple Grammy Awards and continues to wow Vegas audiences. All in all, it’s a fabulous show and a testament to the legacy of The Beatles.
The journey starts with the energetic “Get Back” at the scene of The Beatles’ farewell concert and then flashes back to Liverpool during World War II when the band members were young children.
Acrobats and tumblers on trampolines perform, accompanied by “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Drive My Car.”
Show Director Dominic Champagne calls The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil a “rock ‘n’ roll poem.” The show is a 90-minute journey through the trends and politics of the ’60s and most importantly, The Beatles’ history, told through nearly 30 of the group’s songs.
LOVE started out as a collaboration between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil’s Guy LaLiberté.
After Harrison’s death, the remaining Beatles and the families of the late group members helped bring a Harrison’s vision to life, sharing their ideas about song selection and song order for the show.
The music director for LOVE is none other than Sir George Martin, who is best known for his work producing The Beatles’ music. Martin’s son, Giles, is also a music director for the show.
No journey through the ’60s would be complete without a trip through the era of Beatlemania.
If you’re a fan of bands rather than soloists, you might prefer The Beatles LOVE.
The show has been revamped by Giles Martin, the musical director and son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
Its poetic soundtrack takes its cue from original Beatles lyrics.
